  • What is a Cat Cafe?
cat cafe noun. a business establishment that has numerous cats available for customers to play with, and usually offers food and drinks. Our cat cafe is a place where you can enjoy the company of cats and eat tasty goodies in a cozy and relaxed space. You can sit back with a book while a furry paw helps you to turn to the next page. You can utilize our high speed wifi while a clever cat helps you to answer that important email. Or you could just catch up with friends, feline or otherwise. The cafe is our cats' foster home. It's a safe place for them to stay until they are adopted. And while they're here, they're being socialized: living and playing with their fellow cats, and also getting comfortable with all their human visitors. Our goal is for our cats to have the opportunity to choose their new family. This is a place where they can show off their personality so that they can make the right match. We also hope to provide the community with a safe, fun and relaxed space to unwind and find comfort in animal companionship. Not everyone has the opportunity to have cats at home, and we hope that they may find joy visiting ours.
  • How do I adopt?
All adoptions are processed through our rescue partner Cat Tales Rescue. This button brings you to their adoption page. The application form is the red button at the bottom of the page. For more information please visit Cat Tales FAQs. When you meet a cat you love, please fill out the application and email it to info@cattalesnh.org. Be sure to include the cat's name and that you met the cat at The Tipsy Tabby. Cat Tales Adoption Fees $350 for kittens, and $225 for adults Pair of kittens 600.00 Pair of adults 400.00. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE? All cats are fixed, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, dewormed, microchipped and issued a health certificate by a licensed veterinarian.
  • Can I bring my own cat?
No, for the safety of our cats and guests, we do not allow outside cats in our lounge. We have all adoptable cats in our lounge. These cats are all vetted before coming to our lounge, so we know their medical status.
  • Is there an age limit?
No, we hope that people of all ages may enjoy the special comfort that spending time with a cat may bring. Our policy is one adult per every two children. We ask that adults supervise children while interacting with our cats, each cat has it's own personality and may act in different ways. Please note that we reserve the right to ask anyone of any age to leave if we feel the comfort and safety of our cats is compromised. To review our rules and waiver click here.
  • Why is there an entry fee?
We don't take any of the adoption fees, that all goes to Cat Tales Rescue (our adoption partner). We want to create the best cat cafe experience possible, and in order to do that, the reality is that there are costs to providing a clean, safe, comfortable, temporary home for these fantastic felines. We provide all of their food, litter, cleaning supplies, and daily care. This helps take the burden off of the rescue as a thanks for trusting us with the care of their cats. So the ticket sales support the cats, our business, and the rescue.
  • Do you host parties/events?
Yes, we can host up to 10 people for an event. We even have a projection screen for business meetings/classes or just a fun family movie night. • It's called "The Tipsy Tabby," do you serve alcohol?
Unfortunately, we no longer serve alcohol. Due to the rising costs of liability insurance, we have decided to let our liquor license go. We may revisit the idea in the future, but for now we are alcohol free.
  • How does The Tipsy Tabby minimize their environmental impact?
At The Tipsy Tabby, we are deeply committed to reducing our ecological footprint and fostering a sustainable environment. Our proud owner Kaitlyn, holds a degree in wildlife biology and is passionate about wildlife conservation and environmental protection. 1. Cat Rescue and Wildlife Conservation: One significant way we contribute to environmental well-being is through matching rescue cats to new families. Rescuing cats and providing them comfortable indoor homes, not only gives these feline friends a second chance at a happy life but also contributes to wildlife conservation. Cats, when allowed to roam outdoors, can pose a serious threat to local bird and wildlife populations. By helping to find these cats loving homes, we mitigate the impact on our precious wildlife. 2. Compostable To-Go Items: We understand the importance of responsible waste management. All our to-go items are made from compostable materials, which are then processed by our local composting partner, Mr. Fox. This ensures that our packaging doesn't contribute to landfill waste and, instead, becomes valuable compost for enriching the soil. 3. Embracing Local Suppliers: We take pride in sourcing the majority of our supplies locally. Our coffee and tea come from New Hampshire-based coffee roaster, Rare Breed Coffee and 27 Teas, reducing transportation-related carbon emissions. The milk we use is sourced from Hatchland Farm in NH, and our delectable baked goods are provided by Sweetened Memories Bakery in Durham. Even our catnip is sourced locally from New Hampshire and Maine. Embracing local products helps us minimize overall fuel consumption, thus reducing our CO2 footprint. 4. Solar Power Initiative: As part of our commitment to clean energy, we're thrilled to announce that The Tipsy Tabby is the first business on Main Street Newmarket to harness the power of solar energy. This initiative not only helps us reduce our dependence on non-renewable energy sources but also serves as a positive example for our community. Contact Harvey Woods Solar Engineering to install your system! 5. Our Initial Build: During construction, not only did we focus on honoring the age and heritage of our building, but we also focused on reusing and repurposing as many materials as possible. Over 85% of all our materials during construction were recycled or repurposed. Pay attention and you may see some really interesting antique and retro pieces as you spend time in our space. At The Tipsy Tabby, we believe that every small step towards sustainability makes a significant impact. By combining our passion for wildlife conservation with eco-friendly practices, we strive to create a space where both cats and the environment can thrive. Thank you for joining us on this journey towards a greener, more sustainable future!

  • Do I need an appointment/reservation to come visit the cats?
We HIGHLY recommended that you reserve a space online so that you will not be disappointed if we are full when you arrive. Our lounge is small and can only accommodate 8 people at a time. Walk-ins are welcome when we have space available.
  • Where is the best place to park?
There is free 2hr on-street parking all down Main Street in Newmarket. There is also a free public lot behind the Newmarket Public Library just a 2 minute walk up the street.
  • What should I expect when I arrive?
When it's time to visit, come to the cafe side to check-in. You'll give your name and we'll confirm we have your tickets in our system. Afterward, you can buy a snack or beverage and sit at the window bar stools, enjoying the cats as you wait for your start time. When it's your appointment time we will give you a key fob to enter the cat lounge. You will then exit the cafe and go through our other front door to enter the cat lounge. (Our cafe side is completely separated from the cat lounge side in order to abide by health regulations.)
  • Is food and drink allowed in the cat room?
Yes, you can order your snacks and drinks at the cafe counter and enjoy them in the lounge with our cats. We kindly request that you ensure the cats don't snatch any of your food.
  • What if I need to cancel/reschedule my ticket?
If you need to CANCEL/RESCHEDULE your reservation please call us during business hours at 603-505-8115. For RESCHEDULES you may also login to your customer portal on our website to manage your reservation. REFUNDS will only be granted with 24hrs notice, thank you for understanding.
  • Can I come for less than an hour?
Yes, we allow 15 and 30 minute appointments for walk-ins only. This means we cannot reserve a spot for you, but if you come visit us and we have the space to accommodate, we can let you in for a shorter appointment.
  • What's the deal with the separate entrance and key fob system?
Our cafe and cat lounge are completely separate spaces. This is a state health department requirement for food safety. We have added an electric door lock system that utilizes a key fob so we can closely monitor the traffic going through the cat lounge doors. This ensures our cats are safe and cannot escape out onto the street. The key fob is easy to use, just tap it on the door handle!
